Victoria Day!

There's nothing like a long weekend to re-invigorate you and make you feel wonderful. Today we celebrate Queen Victoria or something. Mostly people drink, picnic, drink, open their cottages, drink and generally spend time outside drinking. Here in Canada, it's the kickoff weekend for summer. So have a terrific holiday Monday and see you tomorrow!

karen, i don't know who your regular readers are; are they random strangers like me? or are they friends?

i read a lot of blogs. it's not that i have nothing to do with my time, but that reading blogs is a very good way to discover gems of regular people living regular lives, people who have a good eye or an interesting perspective or a funny way of thinking about the world.

you are one such gem. to be certain there are a lot of whiners, a lot of poets manqués, a lot of twisted self-promoting over-cute attention suckers out there, but when i'm explaining to my friends why i read blogs, i mention that history guy who grows flowers, that guys who can really write, the girl who posts interesting music and skates roller derby, and i mention you.

i can't call you friend because reading your blogs does not grant me that level of intimacy, but as much as one can like a person from their blogs, i like you. i am always pleased to see your posts, even if (like the last two weeks) i am checking from my car at a public library somewhere in northern maine before returning to a remote campsite on a rainy night.

so thanks for keeping me company out there. it;s nice to have you along on the ride.

I'm loving this weekend, here in the easternish provinces it's been beautiful but we wont hear much about "God save the Queen" or fireworks and birthday cakes. I did read over at wikipedia that these English Birthday parties started in April and moved along until we finally settled on Victoria as she was a favorite?
Local to me, I hear she was the one to push to establish the first Anglican Cathedral in my parts. We didn't have enough population but she pushed it through? I should probably get that history lesson again?

Happy Victoria day!! enjoy all you do today that isn't "work" heheh
